our story

  • first meeting

Simran and Joe met in August 2006 during Simran's first week of college, when Bryn Mawr and Haverford freshmen have a meet-and-greet on one of their campuses. Joe was a Sophomore who helped with Freshmen Orientation at Haverford. Simran's friend from Cherry Hill, David, was in Joe's orientation group and introduced them.

Simran found Joe's fashion sense to be quite odd because he wore rubber fishing sandals around campus that summer. He still has them!

  • computer science class

That Spring, Simran and Joe both enrolled in the same computer science class. They learned programming together and were partners for several team assignments. Simran's Dad told her she could major in whatever she wanted if she took a Computer Science course. Likewise, Joe's Mom, roommate, and professor all encouraged him take computing courses. In other words, these wise decisions were not their own.

Here is their oldest picture together, taken in Spring 2007. They are sitting together in the front row.

Here is some code for a project that Simran and Joe worked on together in Spring 2007:

  • keeping in touch

After Simran and Joe graduated college in 2010 and 2009 respectively, Joe moved to New York to work as a software engineer and Simran moved to Philadelphia to work in fashion. They kept in touch on and off for 7 years. That's all we'll say about that!

  • reuniting in new york

After Simran graduated from business school in 2018, she decided to move to New York City. Once she got there, she gave Joe a call. Meeting up again made them realize how much they had missed each other. And as they say, the rest is history.

  • engagement

Joe asked Simran to marry him on August 26, 2022 on the peak of Mount Baker in Lake Placid, NY. Simran was already a little out of breath as the climb was more difficult than anticipated. But she had enough breath left to say "Yes!" and enjoy the private moment together with Joe.

This is the end of the website but the beginning of our marriage. Thank you for celebrating this special time with us. ♡ Simran and Joe
